Sooo…remember how I was going to keep my blog going when I was back in the states. That worked out well ha. The thing is when I told you that, I forgot how boring Provo was. But guess what!!! Now you say “What?!” and I say “I’m not going back to Provo until spring.” And then you say “why is that?” and I say “CAUSE I’M GOING TO INDIA!!!” and now you say “Wow! I’m thoroughly impressed” and I say “I know, right?” :) That’s right, I’m doing a study abroad in India. Yes I did just get back in the country a few months ago but I have this theory that if I stay in the states for more than five months at a time the world may explode and that’s not a risk I’m willing to take. You’re welcome. The truth is I love to travel and there’s no time like the present. I’ll be living in Visakhapatnam also known as Vizak. It’s a coastal city in the south. I’ll be taking classes, studying Telugu, and doing research for my senior thesis. I’m researching educational aspirations of girls in a little fishing village, well at least that’s the plan. I hear people’s project change a ton so we’ll see what happens. I’m so pumped though! I leave January 2nd. Dang so surreal. Since I’m actually going to be somewhere interesting, I think I’ll actually update this thing. No guarantees but I’ll try my best.
So now that you’re all caught up with my plans to flee the country I guess I ought to sum up my fall semester. Here we go!
I got 5 new roommates that I didn’t know before but now I think they’re pretty cool. Kacie, Alix, Margaret, Carly, and Charee. We had quite a few adventures. Trips to southend market, singing all the time, being gangsta, watching Modern Family, movie nights, and lots of crazy conversations. My favorite memory has got to be the rap Kacie and Margaret wrote me and performed at IHOP. Haha They’re a good bunch.
I went to an amnesty international conference in LA, got to know Lauren Hilton the super cool co-president of byu’s Amnesty chapter, met Rainn Wilson (so cool!), and got my picture in the student newspaper. I’ve been in it a few times but this was my first photograph.
I definitely suffered from Thailand withdrawals. I got through these thanks to canned milo and reunions with my Thailand friends, reminiscing and catching up. I love those guys and miss them.
I worked a lot, earned money for India, got to hold some cool old things, and met 2 Osmonds. Sadly not Donnie or Marie, but they’re still Osmonds so count it! Spent a lot of time in the library, but still probably not as much as I should have.
I got to go to Disneyland for thanksgiving which was fantastic.
I hung out with some of my old friends a lot doing dinners and movie nights which were awesome and made new friends too. Surprisingly, some of my favorite people I met were actually my hometeachers. Go figure right considering my not always winning attitude when it comes to hometeachers. Crazy guys but I’m kind of a big fan.
Well that about sums up my semester! And now I’m back in vegas chillin’ for a few more days. My whole family’s together so that’s been really great. When we’re not doing stuff together I mostly hang out with my cat and watch tivo but I did see a couple friends from high school. That was cool. And I got to see my best friend Coby. We’re not in the same country very often. He just got back from a semester in Jordan. His family was passing through vegas so we got to hang out for a few hours. Win.
so there you go. I probably won’t talk to you again till India so peace!
Oh PS~I see you met my brother. Haha I love that kid. That’s what I get for leaving my laptop unguarded. He’s pretty cool :)
